In a powerful demonstration of regional solidarity, JMMB Trinidad & Tobago’s subsidiaries raised over TT$540,000 (approximately J$12 million) through its CSR Disaster Relief Fund, “One Love,” to assist communities in Jamaica devastated by Hurricane Melissa. The funds will be channeled through the JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the JMMB Group in Jamaica, to bolster ongoing recovery and rebuilding efforts across the island.

“This donation reflects our commitment to not only financial empowerment but also to the wellbeing of the communities we serve across the Caribbean,” said Chantal Pereira, Country Marketing and Communications Manager, JMMB Trinidad & Tobago. “At JMMB, we believe in the power of community and the importance of standing together in times of need.”

Since Hurricane Melissa struck, the JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation has been actively mobilizing relief efforts, committing J$25 million so far, toward immediate support for families hardest hit in western Jamaica. Working alongside partners like the Council of Voluntary Social Services (CVSS), Project STAR, and the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), the Foundation has distributed care packages with food and essential supplies, ensuring timely assistance to those most in need.

Beyond emergency relief, the Foundation has embarked on long-term rehabilitation projects, including rebuilding homes and community centers, and restoring critical infrastructure. These initiatives are guided by the evolving needs of affected communities, with a focus on sustainable recovery and resilience.

Reflecting on the spirit of unity, Kim Mair, CEO of the JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation, expressed, “In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, we have been called to pivot, to listen deeply, and to pour our love into the communities that need it most. From rural Jamaica, where care packages were shared, to our rebuilding projects now underway, we are reminded what love in action truly means. We are deeply grateful for the generous support from our Trinidad & Tobago family, which strengthens our ability to continue this vital work.”

The Foundation remains committed to supporting communities in rural Jamaica in the months ahead, ensuring that families can rebuild stronger and more resilient lives. This partnership underscores the JMMB Group’s core value of love, and its unwavering dedication to standing with the Jamaican people during this time of recovery.
